Senior Transceiver Test Engineer

Background

OneChip Photonics is a venture-funded private company developing a new technology platform which combines indium-phosphide-based, photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and passive optical alignment. This technology has been used to demonstrate low-cost transceivers for the fiber-to-the-premise market and will expand to create new products to meet the rapidly growing demand for the increased communication-bandwidth requirements which are associated with transmission of video signals to smartphones and other personal communication devices.

Description of responsibilities

The candidate will be the lead designer and integrator of automated production test systems for optical transceivers and for transmitters and receivers for very high-speed optical interconnects. He or she must deliver these test systems to Manufacturing with appropriate software documentation and documented test procedures. He or she must write GUIs and software to control instruments, process data and save the data in a database. The candidate must interact with Engineering and Manufacturing to understand test requirements and to train operators when necessary.

Experience/Education

The candidate should be familiar with bit-error-rate testing, measurement of eye-diagrams and extinction ratios as well as general experience with high-frequency electronic measurements and fiber-optic test equipment. He or she must have previously developed test systems for product development and must have successfully delivered automated test systems to Production. Experience coding in C#, LabView and MATLAB is desirable.

BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Engineering Physics and 10 years of experience in test engineering, or an MS with 5 years of experience is required.
